Power Tagging has assembled a strong leadership team that brings experience in both integrating and deploying technology in the energy and information sectors.

Rick Bernheim, President and CEO

Mr. Bernheim has over 30 years experience leading high-tech organizations. Prior to joining Power Tagging he was Vice President of Research and Development for JDSU Test and Measurement. His previous experience includes leadership roles at SmartSynch, Harris Communications, WavTrace, ComStream, France Telecom, GE, RCA, Cylix, Transworld, and Phillips Instruments, in positions that include chief operating officer, general manager, vice president of business development, chief technology officer, and vice president of engineering, leading multi-country organizations. Mr. Bernheim’s career, spanning start-up to Fortune 100 companies, has proven his success of obtaining consistent, measurable achievements in strategic planning, revenue and profit growth, market capture, and innovative high-tech product creation, and he has helped lead five venture funded / rapid growth technology companies to achieve liquidity events. Mr. Bernheim holds an Electrical Engineering degree from Christian Brother University and is the author of two patents.  

Jerritt Hansell, Chief Scientist

Mr. Hansell has over 35 years experience in Research & Development predominantly as a consultant. His primary skills are in system design and implementation of hardware and software in the industrial, medical, and aerospace industries. He has seen a number of products from initial concept through to final product release. He has a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University and a masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Ohio State University. He is an author of one awarded and 2 pending patents.

Andy Abendschein, Director of Software Engineering

Andy Abendschein brings 20+ years of full lifecycle software engineering experience to his current role as Director of Software at Power Tagging where he is currently developing a software platform to support distributed grid-aware applications.

Prior to joining Power Tagging, Andy served in leadership roles at both established and startup companies including Vidiom Systems, Creekpath, Aztek Engineering, and SuperFlow.

Andy’s background developing distributed systems was nurtured in such wide ranging industries as automotive test and measurement, telecommunications, hosted CRM, storage area network management, and most recently interactive cable television. He has been an advocate of the use of interoperable standards such as the DMTF’s Common Information Model (CIM), and participated in Open Cable Applications Platform (OCAP) standards work and interoperability labs at CableLabs.

Andy holds two Bachelor’s degrees, including a BSEE from Colorado State University, as well as post-graduate studies in Software Engineering.

John deLassus, Director of Hardware Engineering and Operations

John deLassus has over 25 years of experience as a design engineer and manager.  Prior to joining Power Tagging, he was Engineering Development and Operations Manager at Atrato and Engineering Project Manager for a tape drive development program at Quantum.  John spent the first half of his career in manufacturing and test, developing cost effective processes and equipment for  products ranging from electronic modular assemblies to pumps, tape drives, and RAID arrays.  With his strong background in manufacturing, he moved into product development and project management roles and focused on developing products that are reliable, low cost, and simple to build.  Mr. deLassus has an Engineering Technology degree from Texas Tech University, and holds 3 patents.
