Grid Mapping

Power Tagging leverages its patent pending communications and system management technology to enable rapid, real time and cost effective grid mapping. The Power Tagging grid mapping offering forms the framework for better grid asset management while building the foundation for future Grid Location Aware™ applications. Current solutions to Smart Grid deployments tend to focus on external, separately implemented and managed communication networks. In the Smart Grid of the future, utilities must be able to manage the actual configuration of grid-resident systems, not just observe telemetry data from a loose collection of wireless sensors. Additionally, conventional Smart Grid technologies do not address fundamental capabilities such as dynamic evaluation of grid assets, or remapping of the grid as physical configuration changes occur.

In contrast, Power Tagging provides an intrinsic, internal, real-time view of the grid’s configuration and operational status. Additionally, Power Tagging allows the grid operator to invoke remotely controllable actions on individual devices or groups of devices. By closing the loop on such distributed management tasks, PTT provides positive acknowledgement of location, activity, state, and other critical system management parameters.

When interwoven with existing GPS and circuit data, the Power Tagging schematic grid mapping produces a dynamic, clear view of the grid in real time.
