Technology

In the Smart Grid of the future, electric power will be measurable, traceable, and auditable, much like data is on the Internet today.  To enable this vision, Power Tagging has created a revolutionary technology which enables encrypted digital “tags” to be attached to grid-resident devices. These Power Tags can also be used to identify the power these grid-resident devices consume, produce, or conduct. For the first time, the grid … and even the power itself … has embedded intelligence.

Grid Location Aware™

Power Tags make all devices on the power grid “Grid Location Aware™”. This awareness is linked to each device’s real-time schematic location on the grid, not simply its GPS coordinates (which are imprecise) or its “as designed” location (which can be inaccurate). Grid Location Awareness produces many benefits for Smart Grid systems, and many of these benefits are impossible to achieve with competitive approaches to Smart Grid deployments.

Historical Challenges Solved

Unlike previous technologies, Power Tagging’s proven technologies are able to cost effectively communicate in the harsh grid environment. By leveraging state of the art digital signal processing techniques and intimate knowledge of grid channel characteristics, Power Tagging signals can be adapted to varying grid conditions.

Bi-directional Communications

The result is complete bi-directional communications with the ability to drive applications using the existing electric grid. A secondary, parallel communication channel is no longer required.

Three Part Architecture

Power Tagging utilizes a three part architecture to deliver scalable targeted results. The hardware, software and coupling devices allow for customized and optimized deployments.

Cost Effective

Power Tagging technology is “rate case” friendly for rapid deployment with maximal results.
